About Us

Our Ethos & Philosophy

Centauri Care aim to provide highly effective Residential Care Services for young people with learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Our commitment is to provide happy, supportive, nurturing placements that evolve and excel in all standards of care.  This will lead to young people becoming educated, skilled, successful independent adults.

Be Empowered

We believe that building self-esteem and trust is the first step to a life-changing journey. We will empower young people in our care to understand the importance of education and skills. This will enable them to define how to achieve their personal goals. Within our home, the young people will have the right resources to support them with out-of-school learning and educational challenges.

Children and Young People

Our staff will use the approach of ‘Finding The Right Words’ with young people in a reflective space. Talking together about difficult past and present experiences will teach children how to be resilient through arduous times.

Centauri Care will help the young people to recognise their strengths and discover new interests they will enjoy. We commit to giving young people the best opportunities to acquire new life skills. Our aim is to actively introduce young people to an environment where academic and practical hands-on skills can be experienced. This could help them build careers and gain employment in the future.  We will also help young people develop the skills they will need to live independently.  This will support young people in our care to be aspirational and believe in themselves, to develop independence and self-esteem.  Our dedicated and committed staff have high expectations for the young people to achieve their full potential.

The team will use their expertise and work with other professionals to make a difference in young people’s everyday experiences. This will support young people to build resilience and independence. This will equip them for a positive future within their families and communities. The team will support the young people to keep in contact with family, friends who are important to them.  Staff will promote and fully support children to maintain these crucial relationships.

Be Happy, Be Active, Be Healthy

At Centauri Care we will support the young people in our homes to focus on their wellbeing.  What influences wellbeing?

Centauri Care understand the importance of:

  • Making Time to Talk
  • Time to Listen
  • Time to Cry and Laugh

The team aim to facilitate positive experiences for all the young people in our care. Guide them to make the best of each day and build awareness of their feelings. We will work with young people to reflect on positive and negative experiences. Our aim is to provide specialist support for young people to develop coping strategies and emotional intelligence.

Highly Effective Residential Care Services for Children

Staff will actively encourage young people to have a voice within our homes. The team will give young people the opportunities to ask questions and talk about their journey towards a happy future.

Highly Effective Residential Care Services for Children

To build confidence and routines, we will organise fun activities to encompass physical health needs. Leisure time will encourage social inclusion and develop friendships.

As part of the children’s individual care plans they will be supported to lead a healthy lifestyle. Ensuring they have access to the wider healthcare support they need.

Be You

The teams will promote a culture of belonging to enable young people to learn that they can be themselves. Every child’s personality will be highly celebrated, whatever their background and life choices or experiences.

We believe in an inclusive home environment where children and young people accept differences and learn skills for everyday life. The staff will be open and honest about the young person’s past and plans for their care. They will give consistent explanations and keep children up to date with any changes. This will result in their ability to form relationships and help them develop a strong sense of identity.

Be Yourself
Role Models in Residential Care Services

Through positive communication and behaviours, our staff will be constructive role models. This will help the children and young people develop confident communication skills. Young people learn by example, therefore, the staff will ensure they are consistent, considerate and calm.

In our home we will actively promote good manners, respect and trust for each other. The young people will learn about boundaries and understand acceptable behaviours during shared daily activities. This will help the young people learn alternative ways to express their frustrations and powerful emotions. Consequently, children acquire the skills to understand and better manage their own behaviour.

Staff will help build lasting relationships between themselves and the young people.  They will facilitate young people’s understanding of the importance of taking responsibility for their actions. Children will learn to develop a moral compass and will be encouraged to think outside of their comfort zone.
